BARCELONA MODEL (28 sqm) DELIVERED NEAR BERGEN, NORWAY
A Luxury Capsule House Designed for Scandinavian Winters
When people think about modular homes and capsule houses, they often imagine mild climates and holiday destinations. This project proves exactly the opposite.
This Barcelona model was delivered near Bergen, Norway, an area known for its long winters, harsh weather conditions, and temperatures that can easily drop below -20°C during the coldest months of the year. Building a luxury capsule house in such an environment requires more than attractive design. It requires engineering, thermal efficiency, and careful adaptation to the local climate.
One of the biggest advantages of a modern prefabricated house is the ability to customize the structure according to the destination where it will be installed. For this reason, the Barcelona model delivered to Norway was specifically adapted to maximize insulation performance.
Unlike some of our projects in warmer regions, we reduced the amount of glazing used in the bedroom area and increased the insulated wall surfaces. This allowed us to achieve a significantly better thermal performance while maintaining the modern appearance that defines the Barcelona model.
The house uses between 15 and 20 centimeters of polyurethane foam insulation inside the external walls and approximately 25 centimeters of polyurethane foam insulation in both the roof and floor structure. Combined with high-performance glazing and carefully engineered construction details, the building achieves a heat transfer coefficient close to 0.5 W/m²K.
For the owner, this means a warmer home during winter, lower energy consumption, and a comfortable indoor climate throughout the year.
What many people don't realize is that excellent insulation works both ways. The same construction system that keeps the interior warm during Norwegian winters also helps maintain pleasant indoor temperatures during hot summer days. This is one of the reasons why the same View Box Houses construction technology can be successfully installed both in Norway and in extremely hot climates such as the Middle East.
The Barcelona model remains one of the most versatile houses in our portfolio. It can be used as a permanent residence, holiday home, rental property, mountain retreat, glamping accommodation, or luxury tourism unit. Every project can be adapted according to the local climate and the client's requirements.
This project near Bergen is a perfect example of how a modern capsule house can combine energy efficiency, comfort, and contemporary architecture even in some of Europe's most demanding environments.
Unlike many companies that only present concepts or computer-generated images, this is a real project, manufactured, delivered, and installed for a real client. It demonstrates that a properly designed modular home can provide year-round comfort regardless of the climate.
Today, this Barcelona model stands proudly in Norway, proving that a luxury prefabricated house can perform just as well in Scandinavian winters as it does in the warmer regions of Europe.
We continue to deliver modular homes, capsule houses, and prefabricated buildings throughout Europe, helping clients create unique living and hospitality spaces in virtually any environment.
